Joan Flint
Qigong Instructor
Joan is an artist, herbalist, gardener, and Qigong instructor who finds inspiration in the natural world. Guided by the wisdom of plants, the changing seasons, and the quiet rhythms of nature, she believes mindful movement can help us reconnect with the vitality, balance, and resilience that already exist within us.
Through her own experiences navigating life’s challenges, Joan discovered the restorative power of slowing down, softening the mind, and cultivating a deeper relationship with both herself and the world around her. Qigong became a meaningful part of that journey, offering a pathway toward greater ease, presence, and connection.
With a gentle and welcoming approach, Joan invites students to explore movement with curiosity rather than expectation. Her classes offer an opportunity to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the body while honoring each person’s unique experience.
Joan’s background includes work in healthcare, domestic violence advocacy, and community support services. When she’s not teaching, you’ll often find her tending her gardens, creating art, studying herbalism, or spending time outdoors.

Description
Settle into a gentle rhythm where slow, mindful movement meets deep presence.
Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is an ancient Chinese practice that combines flowing movement, mindful breathing, and focused awareness. Often described as meditation in motion, qigong invites us to slow down, pay attention, and explore the relationship between movement, breath, and awareness with patience and curiosity.
In this beginner-friendly class, we explore foundational qigong movements from the lineage of Master Jesse Tsao. With an emphasis on curiosity and exploration, you’ll be invited to move gently, breathe deeply, and discover the practice through experience rather than perfection. Movements are practiced slowly and mindfully, creating space to cultivate balance, coordination, and greater body awareness. You’ll be encouraged to move at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive, honoring your own unique experience of the practice.
Whether you’re looking to complement your yoga practice, explore meditation through movement, or simply find a quieter rhythm amid the weekly flow, Qigong Fundamentals offers a welcoming opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the experience of moving with greater awareness.
