Description
A Rest Ritual in honour of Grief
As part of Dying Matters week 8th - 14th May 2023 I invite you to a restorative yoga class designed for grief.
“Dying Matters is Hospice UK's flagship national campaign. Working in partnership with grassroots communities around the UK, it aims to get people talking and sharing stories openly about dying and grief, to reduce the associated stress, stigma and social isolation.” Hospice UK
Inspired by my own experiences I am hosting this session to hold space for rest, ritual and grief in community with others.
My intention is to create a space for grief and for grievers to have a place to rest.
Because when I was deeply grieving I craved for spaces where my grief was welcome. And because in times of grief I have found healing medicine in rest, luxuriously supported postures and being with the breath.
I am offering a restorative yoga class using simple yoga practices to ground and invite rest into the body.
We will start at 10:00 with gentle movement to get comfortable in the space.
As an act of ritual we will make a Grief Alter together. A symbolic focal point for our practice and all that it means to us.
Moving on to restorative asana with the support of lots of props. We will practise a small number of postures to allow enough time in each pose to relax.
Leading towards a gentle pranayama and ending with a yoga nidra ‘yogic sleep’.
There will be time to connect in a sharing circle
Hosted in Grow Yoga Space, a new hub for therapeutic yoga practices. An intimate space for practice tucked away in a cosy part of Sharrowvale
This class includes physical touch. Hands on adjustments to the props for comfort and support.
Wear something warm and comfortable, long sleeves and cosy socks.
Props provided and bring anything you need to get comfortable for a restorative yoga class
Please get in touch if you have any questions
