I began practicing yoga in 2009 as a means to relieve sciatic pain. Within a few weeks, the sciatic pain was gone, and the physical and mental well-being I felt after class kept me coming back for more. Yoga has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and inspires me to live each moment more mindfully. I became a registered yoga teacher in 2012 and I continue to be a student of yoga. I truly believe that yoga is a path to the fountain of youth, as well as a path to overall well-being. My hope is that students step off the mat feeling refreshed, happy and balanced.
Description
This all-levels class will take you head-to-toe(s) through a range of passive and active stretches, and static and dynamic yoga postures to help release muscular tension and improve range of motion. We will build strength, increase flexibility, improve balance, and improve joint mobility. Props and modifications are incorporated to bring new levels of awareness, growth and discovery, as well as, to allow students to find ease and sweetness on their mats. Modifications and guidance are offered for all students at every level, take your practice up a notch or tone it down depending on the day.

I was born and raised in New York State, and life has since guided me to my home in Virginia. I’m married, blessed with four wonderful children, and delighted to be a grandmother to three beautiful little souls.
I am a yoga teacher though, in many ways, I feel yoga found me. While exploring different movement and fitness styles, yoga appeared almost by accident… yet it immediately felt different, familiar, and deeply right. What began as curiosity quickly grew into a lifelong path.
I have been practicing and teaching for several years now, and the learning never stops. My offerings include Yin Yoga, Self Awakening Yoga, an approach that expands consciousness through the body’s innate wisdom and Hatha Yoga. Each style allows me to guide students into deeper awareness, gentleness, and personal transformation.
Yoga continues to evolve with me, and I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to share its healing, clarity, and quiet magic with others.
Description
This class is for everyone. Yin is a slow, meditative practice done on cool bones. This practice is based on three principles called Tattvas.
1. Come to the appropriate depth or edge for you,
2. Settle into a sweet spot, and resolve to stay,
3. Let go, be patient, let time flow.
Yin targets the deepest fascia connective tissue in and around muscles, ligaments and tendons. It is based on the Taoist tradition. Shapes (postures) are held for periods of time beginning with a three minute hold.
"Yin is not supposed to be comfortable and is practiced to the edge of uncomfortable/comfortable." - Bernie Clark. Yin focus is less muscle energy, less movement.

With a background in dance, Kristen began her yoga journey at the age of 15 during a dance workshop. The class was more than just physical exercise, it awakened her awareness of body movement, internal energy, and the energy surrounding her. From that moment, she was captivated. At 18, Kristen was introduced to deep meditation through a local meditation group, further expanding her connection to mind, body, and spirit.
Over the years, practicing yoga and meditation with a variety of teachers, through all stages of her life and both of her pregnancies, has brought her balance, strength, and inner peace. In 2017, when her second child experienced colic, Kristen turned to the study of children’s yoga and meditation to support her baby and help her family navigate this challenging time. This inspired her to earn her Children’s Yoga Teacher Certificate and complete her RYT-500, deepening her expertise and teaching skills.
For the past five years, Kristen has been teaching private yoga classes for children and adults, tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs, bodies, and life stages of each student. With an energetic passion for yoga, she believes wholeheartedly that there is a practice for everyone, and that yoga can benefit every body, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

I started yoga at home in 2011 using TV programs and DVD’s because I had lost a sense of physical balance. I started attending classes at Art of Balance Yoga shortly after it opened in January 2015 and found more than the regaining of my physical balance. I also found mental awareness, flexibility, and more strength than I’ve ever had before in a non-competitive and supportive community. I completed my RYT-200 Yoga Teacher Training at Art of Balance Yoga in June 2018.
My goal as a teacher is to share a class with you that is creative and playful but purposeful and that allows you to take away a sense of balance and renewal. We practice as individuals, adapting the practice to be our own, with a group of kindred spirits. Practicing yoga we are centered within ourselves, yet interacting with others just as we need to be when we leave the studio.
Description
Come for an easeful yet energizing morning yoga flow. We will share ways to move your body using your breath as a guide and allowing your mind to observe sensations without judgement.
The flowing sequences will increase awareness of your circulation, strengthen your muscles and help keep your mind in the present moment. Strength, flexibility, balance and focus are the goals on and off the mat, using the energy you’ve created in your morning flow.
Suitable for all levels.

My yoga journey began in 2015, with occasional practice whenever life allowed. Yet, it wasn’t until 2022 that I made the conscious decision to fully immerse myself in the world of yoga. I took a leap of faith and committed to a 200-hour yoga teacher training program, eager to deepen both my personal practice and my understanding of this ancient discipline.
During this intensive training, I explored the philosophy, anatomy, and diverse styles of yoga, while refining my teaching skills. Guided by an experienced instructor, I learned how to cultivate mindfulness, strength, balance, and self-awareness, not just on the mat, but in everyday life.
Completing the training in 2023 was a defining milestone, marking my growth as both a dedicated practitioner and a teacher ready to share the healing and transformative power of yoga with others.
I invite you to join me on the mat as we embark together on a journey of self-discovery, wellness, and inner harmony. Let’s explore the incredible potential within you and experience the peace, vitality, and balance yoga has to offer.
