Lizzie Yoga Teacher
Welcome! I’m Lizzie.
A bit about me and my background: yoga has been a grounding and healing part of my life for over four years and it’s a joy to now be sharing that practice through teaching. My approach is inclusive, supportive and rooted in real-life experience with all its beauty, challenges and humour.
I have a multifaceted background, having trained as an actor at RADA grounding in Alexander Technique and LABAN, my training taught me the importance of caring for my body, voice and mind; tools essential not only to performance but to wellbeing. Alongside teaching yoga, I work as a creative freelancer primarily in voiceover and as a communication skills coach where I design and deliver practical communication skills training for organisations and founders to own the moments that shape their career. Movespeak - Train like a performer, communicate like a professional www.movespeak.com
Creativity, curiosity and connection are at the heart of everything I do. I’m generally an upbeat person but like many people, I’ve faced deep personal challenges both physically and mentally. Yoga became a powerful way back to grounding and regulating myself and it continues to every time I teach and practice.
I live with ADHD, which brings both creative energy and its share of challenges. I also have Epidermolysis Bullosa Simplex (EBS – check out www.debra.org.uk to spread awareness), a lifelong condition that causes occasional blistering on my hands and feet. (It sounds intense, but don’t worry, I’ve got it handled!) Yoga has helped me connect more deeply with my neurodivergent self, offering acceptance and a more mindful way to move through life physically and emotionally. It’s strengthened my resilience and helped me meet whatever arises with compassion. I hope to offer others the same space: to explore, connect and feel supported, wherever they’re starting from not only physically but mentally too.
Just because one person can do a pose a certain way doesn’t mean that’s what’s right for your body and yoga isn't elitist, that’s the beauty of yoga, it’s not a competition with anyone else or even with yourself. Yoga isn’t just about movement; it’s a guiding and grounding force not only in the body but in the mind, breath and spirit, it’s a practice I return to again and again, anchoring me, drawing strength from within, building courage to keep learning.
Yoga isn't a performance. It’s not about how far you fold. It’s about presence with oneself. Curiosity to deepen our awareness into how we breathe, how we hold space for ourselves and for each other, how we move and the relationship we have with our mind. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being here where you're at now.
Through my lived experience and background in both the creative arts and sport, I’ve come to appreciate the body’s strength, adaptability and deep need for care. That understanding alongside a real desire to help others find calm amidst chaos is what guides my teaching. Hatha yoga is my training- rooted in breath, movement, mindfulness and stillness, it offers a balanced foundation that brings the mind and body into harmony. I hold deep respect for the Sanskrit terms traditionally used in yoga they carry the history, meaning, poetic rhythm and lineage of the practice and I aim to honour that heritage while also adapting to modern needs.
I believe in championing and empowering people who want to reconnect with themselves and each other in a world that often feels disconnected. Join me in practice and I’ll guide you through asana (movement), pranayama (breathwork) and dhyana (meditation), so you can explore how your body moves, feels and connects on and off the mat.
Honestly, if you show up, breathe, move, wobble, rest and simply notice what’s there for yourself, that’s more than enough.
Come as you are. ○≋
