Description
Yin is the opposite to an active 'yang' vinyasa or flow class. This class seeks to increase flexibility and mobility. Crystal sound bowls and meditation add to a soothing practice.
Yin uses longer holds in postures designed to switch off muscles and focus on ligaments, fascia and joints.
By reducing movements and load we are able find deeper or more range of motion in our joints.
As in life we need a balance, so it can be thought that our yoga practice in its physical form should be both active and passive or yang and yin, in order to find strength and flexibility.
