Description

We’ve opened the class with 1 round of Kapalabhati breathing (active exhalation - belly in, passive inhalation - belly rises back up) and Bastrika - Breath of fire.
For those not familiar with Bastrika:
Bastrika is a cleansing breath exercise that improves the digestive fire by inhaling and exhaling actively with quick sharp breaths in and out through the nose (belly in with the exhalation, belly rises with the inhalation).
Both Kriyas activate and tone the abdominal region, help to remove tiredness by decreasing CO2 levels in the blood which leads to improved brain function while calming the body and the mind.
(Use Ujjayi Breath instead of Bastrika and Kapalabhati if you’re on your moon cycle)
The asana practice was a peaceful warrior flow, followed by the hip openers Ardha Kapotasana (half pigeon) with an added twist, and Gomukasana (cow face) with a deep side body stretch. The class ends with a cooling Sheetali pranayama.
