Leah Conner
Leah (E-RYT 200, RYT 500) has practiced yoga, off and on, for 25 years, but in 2018 decided to gain more knowledge about the actual history and lifestyle of yoga by pursuing her 200-hour teacher training. She loved the training so much that in 2019, she completed another round of training and is now a registered 500-hour instructor. Her desire is to bring positive energy and compassion to the mat for everyone from beginner level to advanced. Leah loves the ancient teachings and sharing how yoga can help with healing both physically and mentally, from physical and/or emotional trauma, and how yoga is a powerful tool for achieving overall health. Yoga is wonderful exercise, but there is so much more to gain than physical fitness! Leah is certified in Yin, Restorative and Trauma Informed Yoga. In addition, she is a certified practitioner as a Life Coach and Emotional Body Mapping. Email Leah to schedule a life-coaching or private session.
Description
This class will focus on working through traditional postures by matching breath to movement throughout the whole practice. We will start with slow centering techniques, including stress release and intention-setting, in order to get the most out of the practice and carry the benefit throughout the rest of our day/week. The class is suitable for all fitness levels, and modifications will be explained to allow for decreasing or increasing levels of practice. You will leave feeling both relaxed and recharged!

Rachel (CYT 500) began practicing yoga in 2014 at Brick House Yoga in Sulphur Springs. She was training for a half-marathon at the time and wanted to use yoga to prevent injury and aid in stress relief to reduce migraine headaches. While a yoga practice was perfect for both of these goals, she found so much more on the mat. Without a doubt, the yoga mat is the first place she has ever experienced complete non-judgment. It is where she learned self-acceptance, presence and stillness--and it is where she started a journey of self-discovery that continues today. In short, yoga changed her life. She holds additional certification in Restorative, Yin and Trauma Informed Yoga and has a special interest in teaching body-positive classes and classes geared for beginners.

This workshop is especially designed for beginners who wish to begin a yoga practice but may be intimidated or self-conscious about practicing in front of others. Yoga is for everybody and for every BODY.
On Sunday, September 22nd, we will discuss what yoga is, why we practice it in the west, its benefits, the eight limbs of yoga, the six classical forms of yoga, the various kinds of yoga classes, the basic asanas or poses and variations. We will also learn breathing techniques and the many benefits of meditation.
On Sunday, September 29th, we will practice the basic poses that are the foundation of many yoga classes as well as practice, with several of our instructors, the different kinds of classes that are taught at One Soul Yoga. Come learn how to feel comfortable on your mat in the present moment and connect mind, body, and spirit.

Rachel Finney
Description
Restorative Yoga is a form of active rest in which the mind, body, and spirit are given the time and space to renew, recharge, and restore. It is a practice unlike traditional yoga classes in that it centers on slowing down, centering, and opening through passive stretching. We practice stillness and very gentle movement for extended periods of time throughout the practice, focusing on fully supported poses that are each held for 5-7 minutes. At the end of class, we will practice a short Yoga Nidra, a form of yogic sleep, in order to gain the most benefit from savasana and feel rested and refreshed to close out the weekend and prepare for the work week ahead. Rachel teaches Sept 22 & 29, then rotating instructors.
