Day 9 - Beyond physical into something deeper 🤓 Free
Positively Nutty1 January 2025 • Duration: 1 Minute
This one is for the wellness nerds among us (welcome to the nerdy tribe—we’ve saved you a seat!).
One of the most common "asana" flows you'll come across is Sun Salutation A. So if you've ever struggled to understand the Sanskrit names or follow the transitions, Izzy has lovingly put together a short guide to help simplify and break it down for you...
But first, let's clarify why we practice Asana:
“Yoga is not about touching your toes, it's about what you learn on the way down." - Jigar Gor
Sure, it can help you touch your toes, but the benefits go far deeper. It’s about self-discovery: each pose an opportunity to meet yourself where you are and grow.
Physically: Builds strength, flexibility and balance, but more importantly, invites us to listen to our bodies, learn resilience and patience.
Mentally: Quietens the noise, trains focus and discipline, anchoring you in the present moment.
Emotionally: Helps you face challenge or discomfort (although we never push into pain), but accept your limitations. This practice teaches us to accept where we're at and love ourselves without judgment.
Spiritually: Unites breath and movement, turning your practice into a moving meditation, giving us a deeper sense of connection to ourselves and the world around us.
Every stretch and wobble teaches you something new. Asana reminds us that growth happens not in the perfect pose, but in the effort, presence and humility along the way.
