Holding space on your journey to find within yourself your roots to fly.
Description
Have you ever wondered? Why do I hear people call yoga a work in not just a workout? Why do we do the poses we do in yoga? Why do you keep reminding me of my breath, of course I'm breathing, or am I (inhales deeply)? What are these chakras and this energy body you keep referring to? Wait, the poses that I'm doing here in class are only one limb of the eight limb path of yoga? What are the other seven? You want me to quiet my mind? Good luck with that!
What will we cover?
* 8 limbs of yoga
* Common asanas and basic alignment
* Meditation techniques
* Introduction to Mudras
* Some foundational Breath work
* Introduction to the Chakras/your energy body
* Introduction to the Koshas
What to expect:
The information that you receive will all be basic overviews of the topics above. We won't have time to delve too deeply into any one of the topics, but this will give you broad over view of the largeness that is yoga and how each piece starts to fit into one another. This class will help to guide you on your journey, to pique your interests and to encourage you to find out more information on given topics and for a future workshops with Roots to Fly Wellness.
There will be handouts, we will be sitting and talk. There will be gentle movement as we intentionally explore some of the basic asanas in our bodies, you'll have the chance to get into some of the poses and really think about them. There will be some opportunities to find some quiet and practice a few ways to meditate and some breath work. And we'll end with a peaceful shavasana with my sound bowls to allow you some space to integrate all of the information.
What to bring and wear:
- Water bottle
- Wear comfy clothes you can move in.
- Bring a travel mug for tea (I'll have my hot pot with a few teas as well as local honey and organic sugar.)
- Please remember to bring a journal or notebook and a writing utensil. You will probably want to take some notes as we discuss things.
- Bring whatever you need to get yourself comfortable for sitting on the floor. There will be plenty of wall space to lean against if you need it.
- We will be standing to work into some basic yoga poses so a mat will be helpful, but there are plenty to borrow at the studio if you forget yours or don't have one.
Cost is $45
Pre-registration and payment is required. Pay on line with credit card or select "pay in class" and send me a Venmo (Jennifer Brouillard @Roots-to-Fly-Wellness) immediately upon registration. If you prefer to pay cash or check please make arrangements to pay before class is held to secure your spot. Thank you for your understand.
My cancellation policy for pop ups and workshops: A 24 hour advanced notice of cancellation is required, except for emergencies.
I am keeping the class lined to 8 yogis for a more intimate, supported and guided experience.
