Sarah Peters
Sarah infuses her years of experience as a trauma-informed occupational therapist with the practice of Yoga to share the gift of movement, connection, and healing. Her passion for sharing healing wisdom and holding nurturing space leaves an open invitation to explore a path of awareness and mindful movement. Her classes are grounded in knowledge of movement patterns, anatomy, neuroscience, and the subtle body. She brings together somatics, primary movement patterns, and Yoga traditions to support integrating movement, breath, embodiment, and mindfulness in an interactive and playful style. Sarah teaches Therapeutic Yoga and Vinyasa classes.
Description
This workshop is led by Sarah Peters, occupational therapist and yoga instructor, who specializes in supporting people connecting with their bodies after trauma. She looks forward to sharing with you knowledge of pain science and how we can support the nervous system for well-being in our daily lives.
This is most valuable for individuals suffering chronic pain (i.e., headaches, muscle pain, etc) and veterans. She will improve your understanding about pain, including how and why we stay in chronic pain. She will also talk a bit about the mind-body connection to pain while using breathing as well as body-based strategies to improve our overall functioning.
This workshop is Saturday, November 12th from 11-1230pm in our wellness center. If you are unable to attend in person, please contact us for possible alternative options. You need to sign up at least 24 hours before the workshop to allow us proper preparation. There is free parking in our lot. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor and our wellness center will be to the left.
What to bring with you:
Comfortable clothing
We have bolsters, blocks, mats, and chairs available in the wellness center
Any additional supports that bring you comfort and support while sitting or laying down
