Description

This 45-minute Japa Meditation class is a gentle yet powerful way to experience another limb of yoga through sound, repetition, and stillness.

Japa meditation is the practice of silently or softly repeating mantras (sacred sound vibrations) using 108 mala beads. Each bead anchors the mind, drawing awareness away from distraction and into presence. The mantras we chant will vary from week to week, chosen intuitively to align with the energetic quality of the day.

The class will begin with guided mantra chanting using japa mala beads, allowing the vibration of sound to build and settle within the body. From there, we will move into a period of quiet sitting, resting in the resonance created by the practice and allowing the nervous system to soften into stillness and silence.

This is a beautiful opportunity to:
• Explore meditation as a living, embodied form of yoga
• Calm the mind and steady the nervous system
• Connect with sound, breath, and subtle energy
• Deepen your personal practice beyond physical postures

You do not need any prior experience with chanting or meditation. Chairs are available if sitting on the floor is not comfortable, and you are welcome to practice in a way that feels supportive for your body.

If you don’t have your own mala beads, sandalwood japa mala beads will be available for purchase at the studio.

This class is ideal if you’re curious about meditation, seeking more inner quiet, or longing for a practice that feels devotional, grounding, and deeply nourishing.
