Lisa Theis
Lisa’s journey with the practice of yoga began in 2000 in a Bikram studio in San Francisco.
What began as a physical and mental challenge to just stay in the room for the duration of
class quickly became a deep and healing connection for her body, mind, and spirit, and
eventually became a life’s passion and calling.
Though she has had many influential teachers, she is a dedicated student and follows the
lineage of Para Yoga and Sri Vidya. Her classes strive to provide a space for each person to
explore the effect of yoga in their own way and, while rooted in the methodologies of Para Yoga,
are an amalgamation of all her teachers’ influences. Each class will include pranayama
(breathwork), the exploration and experience of the energetics of asana (postures), mantra,
visualization and intentional focus, and meditation.
Description
We all experience stress and worry. No one is immune from anxious thoughts. We know the body communicates with the brain 80% and the brain to the body only 20%. Thus, learning how to decrease anxiety comes from learning how to work within and soothe the body. Please join Amy Pickett-Williams, LCSW, RYT 200 for a gentle chair yoga class after church. Attendees will learn a bit about the nervous system and how to work with the body, vibration, and breath to soothe our nervous systems. This class is donation-based, with a percentage going to the Share-the-Plate recipient. All ages and abilities are welcome and the choice to stay in a chair or yoga mat is welcome.
