Description
“Flow Yoga, or “Vinyasa Flow” combines a series of flowing postures with rhythmic breathing for an intense body-mind workout. In Vinyasa classes postures are linked together in a continuous and challenging flow and the common thread is a breath-synchronized movement that develops strength and flexibility while keeping students on the move. This style of yoga is a derivation of the practice of Ashtanga Yoga, a challenging and disciplined series of poses designed to create heat and energy flow. The many benefits of this class include building upper body strength, detoxification, mental and physical balance, flexibility, and stamina. Every class will be a different sequencing of postures that is specially designed by the instructor.

Description
This disciplined practice covers the basics of the Ashtanga Primary Series, a dynamic, fast-paced series of sequential postures transmitted by yoga master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Each pose is linked to the next through a series of connecting movements called vinyasa, allowing the body to create heat and leading to more flexibility. Smooth, deep breathing (ujjayi) is synchronized with the movements. This powerful and vigorous practice purifies and realigns the body, cultivating a feeling of inner peace, and leading to a natural state of meditation.

Description
Our fundamentals classes move slowly and include detailed instruction on alignment as well as gentle hands-on assists. They are a wonderful way to "re-learn" some of the basic poses and allow you to really focus on what is happening with your body and breath. You might be surprised to learn that you've been misaligned in many of your poses and this is the chance to correct those issues before they cause harm.
In addition to the alignment of the poses we discuss yoga etiquette and learn basic yoga breathing and meditation techniques. Students should expect each class to include a theoretical side to get you deeper into the practice, beyond the physical postures.
For beginners, this class is the very best way to begin a yoga practice. Starting with the basics allows you to build the strength, flexibility and knowledge needed to move forward with your practice safely and organically.
We believe that all students can benefit from a fundamentals class and that the best way to build an authentic, strong and safe yoga practice is to begin with the basics and to always keep a beginner's mind. This class is meant for those wanting to spend more time understanding the most efficient alignment for their own bodies, and those that are new to yoga and starting to build their foundation.

8:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Description
This Course includes RELAXATION techniques for reducing stress in daily life--including theory, gentle Yin Yoga practice, breathing techniques, and guided conscious rest, or Yoga Nidra. We begin on Tuesday the 19th and meet for 4 consecutive Tuesdays from 8:30-9:30 pm. This Course combines both theory and practice, and students should wear comfortable/athletic clothing.
This Course focuses on the theory and practice of Yin Yoga. This practice is designed to help you sit longer, and more comfortably, in meditation by stretching connective tissue around the joints (mainly the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine). A passive practice, Yin Yoga involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia, or connective tissue.
Additionally, we will dissect and practice a few traditional yogic breathing techniques or 'pranayama' designed to induce tranquility of mind and relaxed state of body. These are techniques that can be applied in any daily stressful situation or if you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks.
We will also explore an extended 'savasana,' or 'corpse pose' with guided conscious relaxation methods of Yoga Nidra or 'Yogic Sleep.' This is one of the deepest states of relaxation to achieve outside of the deep sleep state and is usually a transformative experience for anyone new to the practice. It instills deep states of physical relaxation in the body while keeping the mind concentrated on specific objects of sensation or visual imaginations.
• Week 1 (19/11) – An Overview - Foundations of Yin Yoga and the Science of Relaxation
• Week 2 (26/11)– Yin Yoga – Target Area Poses for the Hips and Pranayama for Relaxation
• Week 3 (3/12) – Yin Yoga – Target Area Poses for the Spine and Yoga Nidra
• Week 4 (10/12) – Yin Yoga—Target Area Poses for the Shoulders/Chest and Meditation

Description
This class is a blend of various Hatha yoga styles and draws from a series of 26 traditional Hatha postures to address the proper functioning of every bodily system. Classes focus on proper alignment, easeful posture transitions, and controlled breathing exercises (pranayama) to facilitate an exploration into the inner dimensions of yoga and self-awareness.
Postures (especially standing postures) are typically held much longer than in other schools of yoga, so that practitioners can pay close attention to the precise muscular and skeletal alignment this system demands. This practice emphasizes the use of props, including belts, blocks, and blankets so that each student may move into a posture with ease and comfort with the necessary modifications.
