Description
This disciplined practice covers a modified Ashtanga Primary Series, a dynamic, fast-paced series of sequential postures transmitted by yoga master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Each pose is linked to the next through a series of connecting movements called vinyasa, allowing the body to create heat and leading to more flexibility. Smooth, deep breathing (ujjayi) is synchronized with the movements. This powerful and vigorous practice purifies and realigns the body, cultivating a feeling of inner peace, and leading to a natural state of meditation.

Description
“Flow Yoga, or “Vinyasa Flow” combines a series of flowing postures with rhythmic breathing for an intense body-mind workout. In Vinyasa classes postures are linked together in a continuous and challenging flow and the common thread is a breath-synchronized movement that develops strength and flexibility while keeping students on the move. This style of yoga is a derivation of the practice of Ashtanga Yoga, a challenging and disciplined series of poses designed to create heat and energy flow. The many benefits of this class include building upper body strength, detoxification, mental and physical balance, flexibility, and stamina. Every class will be a different sequencing of postures that is specially designed by the instructor.

Yin Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation 120' with Rachel
December 3, 2021 •
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Rachel Berryman
Description
This Class is a combination of 90 minutes Yin practice with 15 minutes practice of Breathwork (Pranayama) and 15 minutes meditation. This class is for those with an established Yin Yoga and meditation practice.
Yin is the cool, lunar, passive aspect of the Yoga asana (posture) practice. Asanas are held for 3-10 minutes to allow the denser layers of the body to unwind. Yin opens the connective tissues versus the muscles and allows practitioners to experience greater range of motion and flexibility. This class is a perfect compliment to a Power Vinyasa yoga practice and great for anyone who sits or stands during their day.
The second half of this class focuses on Breathing and Meditating. It brings our full focus onto breath and the power it holds. The practice of breath control is the fourth limb of the eight limbs of Ashtanga yoga. Prana is the universal energy that flows through us and everything around us. This energy creates, sustains, and destroys because it permeates everything and is considered the "breath of life". Pranayama practices manipulate this force within us creating profound shifts in the mind and energy of the body. Most practitioners are familiar with Ujjayi breath, but in this class, we will explore various pranayama techniques to unlock the potential you hold and elevate your physical yoga practice.
