Autumn is a time of transition, when the trees change color and shed their leaves as the air becomes cooler and drier. According to Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science, autumn is the season of vata dosha, which is associated with the elements of air and space. Vata dosha can manifest as restlessness, anxiety, dryness, and instability in our body and mind. To balance vata dosha, we need to cultivate grounding, stability, warmth, and nourishment.

In this Hatha yoga class, we will explore poses that help us connect to the earth, calm our nervous system, and stimulate our digestive fire. We will start with a gentle warm-up, followed by a series of standing poses that emphasize alignment, balance, and stability. We will then move into some twists, forward bends, and backbends that massage our internal organs and release tension from our spine. We will end with a relaxing savasana where we surrender to the present moment and enjoy the fruits of our practice.
