This Hatha yoga (Iyengar yoga practice) course in Delft is for anyone who, under my guidance, wants to keep their muscles flexible, their body strong and active. This course is suitable for both beginners and more advanced yoga practitioners. You don't have to be limber or flexible. Under my guidance in class, you will build more self-confidence in your own abilities.
You learn to be more aware of your body, mind and breathing. During the exercises/asanas (standing, sitting, bending forward, stretching sideways or bending backwards) much attention is paid to alignment. I ask you to align your body (feet, arms, legs, bones and muscles) in a certain way. The purpose of this is to help you as a practitioner examine what you are doing and thus achieve a 'holistic' effort in your exercises/asanas. With this you will develop greater self-awareness.

Yin-yang yoga
Yin and yang is a concept originated in ancient Chinese philosophy that describes how obviously opposite forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another.
Yang is solar, masculine, dynamic, spirituality, active, resist.
Yin is moon, famine, static, materiality, receptive, surrender.
The balance between Yin and Yang is the basement of any harmony. In traditional Chinese medicine good health from human body is directly related to the balance between yin and yang qualities within oneself and unbalance is always related with illness and misery.
Not only Chinese philosophy, balance is also a very important concept in yoga practice. Yoga is originally from Sanskrit “Yuj”, which means unite. The essential meaning of Yoga means unification, balance, control.
This class consists of two parts.
Yang part is mainly focused on body strength, more strengthening and balancing asanas (body postures) and vinyasas (dynamic movement) are involved. Through the dynamic and changeling practice the aim is to awaken the physical attention and improve body awareness.
Yin part is mainly focus on passive stretching and therefore the practice is more static and relaxing. Practitioners have more time to focus on their body sensation and go further deeper in the practice. The obvious difference of body sensation between yang part and yin part will offer more perspectives to connect and observe one’s body.
Through this class, we aim to help practitioners to be more aware of their body and mind activity and keep body and mind in a yin-yang balanced status.

Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra literaly means yoga sleep. It is a technique to practice consciousness to reach deep status of relaxation. Practitioners can gain real rest from the practice, not only physically but also mentally.
Unlike other yoga classes, Yoga Nidra class does not involve any sitting/standing postures. The only asana used in the class is savasana—yes lying down on your back. However, falling asleep is definitely not the intension. In meditation, practitioners remain waking state of consciousness and will be guided by teacher to go through all different phases of practice to release intension and stress from entire body as well as mind. allowing all thought patterns, sensations, and emotions to arise and pass away itself without applying any will power. It is very important to completely empty the mind during the practice and make mind dead. Feel dead, not just look dead.
From a study proved that one hour of Yoga Nidra is as restful as a few hours sleep. This class is s powerful and simple way to refuel yourself from the busy and stressful life.
