Description
We are so excited to join forces with local Pelvic Floor Therapist and YPO community member Emily Schmitt for a special workshop exploring the function and role of the pelvic floor through the lens of yoga. This two part series will offer participants the opportunity to learn, explore, and build awareness of the ways a yoga practice can help manage, prevent, and/or exacerbate pelvic floor dysfunction.

Part I (July 16th) will include an emphasis on bodies that have carried or plan to carry a pregnancy (past, present, or future), though all are welcome and will benefit from the exercises provided. Part II (August 13th) will emphasize more general public concerns.

Both workshops will provide a basic overview of the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor, experiential breathing and movement exercises that can be practiced at home, and ample time for Q/A with Emily and Kelsie.

This workshop is offered on a sliding scale with options for $30, $35, and $40. Please review our cancelation policy below before purchase.

ABOUT EMILY (she/her):
Emily grew up in Delaware County and has returned to work locally as a physical therapist. She specializes in pelvic floor studies allowing her to work with clients who have an array of pelvic, spine, and hip dysfunctions. She started her yoga journey after a knee injury in college and has continued to use the many principles through her daily life. The opportunity to take the YTT class at Yoga People has allowed Emily to mix her background in physical therapy with the amazing principles of yoga to allow for a more holistic approach. When Emily is not at work she is raising her twins, planting and working in gardens, and helping out on her friends farm.

ABOUT KELSIE (she/her):
Kelsie grew up in Delaware County but found her love for bodywork while living in Austin, TX where she completed her yoga teacher certification program, athletic performance training, and became a licensed massage therapist. These three fields of study have provided her with a deep understanding of how the body moves, and just as importantly, how the body rests. Upon returning to New York, Kelsie began studying to become a IAYT-certified yoga therapist with Prema Yoga Institute in NYC. In this pursuit, she specializes in the specific application of yoga as part of a full-spectrum prevention, management, and recovery team of PTs, DCs, MDs, and LMHCs among other body and mind professionals.
