A slower paced class, designed for recovery and mobilisation. By moving the body in a gentle way we improve our body awareness.

Which leads to a better understanding of how the body works, how small changes can have a big effect. Both in the way that our back feels when we are in the office as well as our stride when we are running for example. Improved body awareness also leads to a better understanding of our emotions, such as when we are hungry/full, tired and need rest or tired and need a walk.

These classes are perfect for anyone who wants to balance strength and flexibility. Whether you feel limited by your body or are active somewhere else and want more holistic movement aimed at recovery and wellbeing.

Restorative yoga is slow, postures are held for 5-10 minutes each. This allows full relaxation both physically and mentally. The poses are chosen in a way to maximise restoration.

Calming the nervous system impacts the whole body, including the digestive system, blood circulation, hormones as well as our mental health. When we teach our body how to relax in restorative yoga we can use that knowledge to help us fall asleep easier or to calm down in stressful situations.

This type of yoga is beneficial for all body types, ages and experiences. Whether you are generally a very active person who has trouble switching off, or someone who struggles with your body. This class is usually the most popular one as the benefits are extraordinary and can be felt straight away.

CHANGE OF LOCATION
This class is held in Wivelsfield VILLAGE Hall, in the main hall this week due to road work on the Church Lane, making the Church Hall inaccessible.

The Vinyasa Flow classes are a creative exploration of the body. Taking the body through its full range of movement, building strength and resilience right at the end of the comfort zone will help it expand.

During the class there will be moments where we slow down, bring focus to a particular joint or muscle for maximum awareness and effect. There will also be moments of free exploration where we bring focus to our own body, experiment where our limits and abilities lie, rebalance muscles, tendons and joints for a harmonious body that we enjoy moving and using.

Whilst not being a fitness class, these classes will be more physically demanding and require some fitness and body awareness beforehand to be able to fully enjoy and safely move through the poses.

Join this course designed for complete beginners to yoga. We will meet once a week for 6 weeks and practice yoga. Each week we will go through new movements and postures in a pace adapted to you who are taking the class.

The teacher, Ylva, specialises in anatomy, healthy movement and how that affects our bodies. This course is therefore focused on creating an understanding of the how, the executions of differents positions and movements, but also the why, the reason we do these poses, when to do which ones and what they can help us with.

This means that after the course has finished you will not just have a better posture, calmer mind and more body awareness, you will also understand what yoga is, how and when to use it to get the most out of it.

You might have planned holidays, as well as life's usual unpredictability which might mean you miss a class or two. For this, recorded online classes can be provided.

We will start with gentle movements to loosen tension, physical, mental and emotional, before we settle in to the restorative part of the class.

Restorative yoga is an amazing practice designed to fully relax, nurture and restore the nervous system, which in turn affect every other system in the body, circulatory system (blood and heart), digestive system, respiratory system (breath and lungs), endocrine system (hormones) and so on.

In restorative yoga we hold each pose for several minutes and aim to be completely comfortable throughout. This allows the poses to work deeply and support the body in the process of relaxing, slowing down and de-stressing.

The last part of the class is the sound bath, using crystal singing bowls to help induce a meditative and healing state for the body. Lying in stillness and letting the sound waves wash over the body is a magical experience which I cannot explain well enough in words, so I highly recommend coming to try it for yourself.

We will then finish off with some tea and snacks before entering the rest of our weekend feeling blissed out.

These two hours will be suitable for:
- all levels including complete beginners of yoga
- all ages from teenagers and up
- all abilities, no fitness or flexibility required

It’s a mini retreat, you’ll emerge feeling well-rested and refreshed.

Bring your own mat, block, bolster/pillow, blanket and eye pillow if you have, message me if not and we will sort it out.

A gentle class, similar to the other gentle flow classes, but with a few more standing positions and breathing exercises to gently wake us up and energise us for the weekend.

These classes will start off slowly and gently, you are allowed to still wear your PJs. We will incorporate some full body stretches to wake up the whole body and get both blood and oxygen moving around our tissues. The class will usually finish with some standing poses to give us a positive start to weekend. There will also be some deep breathing exercises to get our lungs working properly first thing, which you will notice from day one feels amazing.

These classes are perfect for anyone who wants to balance strength and flexibility. Whether you are a morning person or not, these classes will really help you start off the weekend mindfully and energised.
