Description
The pace of the class is deliberately slow and gentle, allowing you to move with ease and to focus on your breath and body sensations. We stay close to the ground, with none or few standing poses. All poses can be changed and adapted if you, for example, need to stay off your hands or your knees.
By slowing down we get a chance to really feel what is going on and focus on alignment which allows for a safer and more comfortable practice. It helps improve our body awareness which has benefits extending far into our normal life off the yoga mat as well.
These classes are perfect for anyone who wants to balance strength and flexibility. Whether you feel limited by your body or are active somewhere else and want more holistic movement aimed at recovery and wellbeing.
For this class bring your own mat and yoga block (if you don't have your own, email me and I will bring it for you)
Suitable for all levels & age groups – especially beginners & anyone with anxiety or physical obstacles
Great for improving mobility and joint health

Description
The restorative yoga classes focuses on relaxation, rest, and rejuvenation. Unlike other forms of yoga, which may involve dynamic movement and strenuous poses, restorative yoga emphasises slowing down and letting go of tension in the body and mind. We hold the positions for several minutes to maximise restoration.
During a restorative yoga class, we typically use props such as bolsters, blankets, blocks, and straps to support our bodies in comfortable and passive positions. The poses are designed to promote deep relaxation, release muscle tension, and quiet the mind.
I, Ylva, may guide you through breathing exercises and meditation throughout the class to help you deepen your relaxation. The pace of the class is slow and steady, and the emphasis is on being present in the moment and tuning into the body's sensations.
Restorative yoga classes are suitable for all levels of experience, including beginners, as the poses are gentle and accessible. They can be especially helpful for those experiencing stress, anxiety, or physical discomfort, as they offer a space for relaxation and restoration.
For this class bring your mat, a blanket and a pillow or bolster (if you don't have your own, email me and I will bring it for you).

Description
Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a dynamic and physically more challenging style of yoga that emphasises on fluid movement and breath control. In a typical Vinyasa Flow class, we will move through a sequence of movements in a continuous, flowing way, synchronised to the breath.
The word "vinyasa" comes from the Sanskrit term nyasa, meaning "to place," and the prefix vi, meaning "in a special way." Vinyasa Flows then emphasises on the connection between breath and movement, with each inhale or exhale initiating a particular movement or sequence of movements, to place the body in a specific way with each breath.
Each class will be different and the focus can lie on different body parts, such as hips or shoulders, or a particular movement, like circles or backbends. The focus can also be to keep a mindset of fluidity or stability. But in each class we will move through a variety of poses, including sun salutations, standing and balancing poses aiming to get the whole body involved and energised.
Moving faster and having to work a little bit harder with the body can both be really fun and a great way to calm the mind down. Vinyasa yoga can offer a great respite or act as a balancing tonic if we are living a life where there is a lot of focus on thinking and less on physical movement.
For this class bring your own mat and yoga block (if you don't have your own, email me and I will bring it for you)
Suitable for all levels, apart from complete beginners

Description
This class is designed to help you connect with your body, breath, and mind in a gentle and nurturing way. The class will begin with a brief centering meditation to help you let go of any distractions and fully arrive in the present moment. You will then move through a series of gentle yoga postures, linking your movement with your breath in a flowing sequence.
A special focus will be placed on undoing tension that easily occurs from modern life. Meaning we will work on mobilising the spine, open the chest and improve blood flow to the hips and legs.
Moving in a way that feels good in the body, stretching out commonly tight muscles and preparing us for the meditation part by making sure the body feels as comfortable as possible.
The yoga postures will be accessible and adaptable for all levels. You will be encouraged to move at your own pace and to listen to your body's needs throughout the practice.
After the flow, you will be guided through a seated or lying-down meditation, bring a blanket to sit on or to wrap around you to stay warm and comfortable.
The meditation will focus on cultivating awareness, presence, and relaxation in the body and mind. We will use various techniques to help you deepen your meditation practice, such as breath awareness, visualisation, or body scan.
The class will end with a brief period of reflection, allowing you to notice any shifts or insights that arose during the practice. You will leave feeling more centered, grounded, and connected to yourself and the present moment.
For this class bring your own mat and yoga block (if you don't have your own, email me and I will bring it for you) and blanket
Suitable for all levels & age groups – especially beginners & anyone with anxiety or physical obstacles

Description
In our fast-paced lives, we often underestimate the profound impact that quality sleep and nurturing sleep habits can have on our well-being. Join this course, and discover how the simple act of learning to rest and switch off can transform your everyday life in ways you might not even realise.
The course will be held once a week for 5 weeks on Thursdays at 7 pm .
Starting on the 2nd of November.
This course is not just about yoga; it's about creating a gentle, nourishing, and nurturing cocoon where you can truly relax. The course will include learning about a mixture of science and the ability to listen to our own intuition.
No prior yoga experience is necessary; this course is open to everyone, regardless of your fitness level. There is an emphasis on inclusivity, making sure that all participants feel comfortable and supported.
All the classes will incorporate gentle movements close to the floor, supported by props. Guided meditations and breathing exercises are explained thoroughly, ensuring everyone can follow along comfortably. I will encourage you to skip anything that doesn't feel right for you.
Course Highlights:
Benefits of Good Sleep: Learn how quality sleep and sleep habits impact your daily life, often in subtle ways you might not have noticed.
A Safe Cocoon: The aim is to create a safe and nurturing space where you can unwind, de-stress, and learn the invaluable skill of switching off.
Nervous System Regulation: Discover the art of down-regulating the nervous system, a vital lesson for managing stress effectively.
Each class is a soothing, calming, and restful experience. The class size will be quite limited to ensure personal attention. I will also offer gentle massage-like adjustments to enhance relaxation and pose connection.
Please bring a yoga mat, a pillow, and a blanket to every class for your comfort.
Use the month of November as an opportunity for self-care, focusing on the importance of sleep and rest. Arrive into December and the holiday season feeling calm, nourished, and truly yourself.
£65 for the whole course.
This also includes free entry to the other weekly classes I run in Wivelsfield.
If you already have a class pass, monthly or yearly membership, I will pause these for the duration of the course.

Why come to a Yoga & Sauna event:
Deep Relaxation: The combination of yoga and sauna creates a powerful relaxation effect. Yoga practice helps calm the mind and prepares the body for relaxation in the sauna, where the heat further relaxes muscles and reduces stress. The heat promotes the release of endorphins, which are natural mood lifters, helping to reduce stress and anxiety.
Enhanced Flexibility: Yoga stretches and poses are well known for how effective they are at loosening muscle tension and improving flexibility. Following yoga with a sauna allows for deeper integration and relaxation, helping to improve flexibility over time.
Detoxification: Both yoga and saunas promote detoxification. Yoga stimulates the lymphatic system, while saunas induce sweating, which helps eliminate toxins from the body.
Improved Circulation: Yoga enhances blood circulation, and saunas further improve this by dilating blood vessels. Better circulation can lead to improved heart health and more efficient oxygen and nutrient delivery to cells.
Stress Reduction: Yoga and saunas are well-known stress reducers. Combining the two enhances their stress-relief benefits, promoting a deep sense of calm and mental clarity.
Mind-Body Connection: Yoga encourages mindfulness and the connection between mind and body. The sauna's heat and the discomfort of a cold plunge can enhance this connection, allowing us to become more in tune with their bodies.
Enhanced Focus: The meditative aspects of yoga can be intensified in a sauna setting, helping participants improve their concentration and mental focus.
Pain Relief: The heat from saunas can provide relief from joint and muscle pain, making yoga stretches and poses more accessible and comfortable.
Improved Skin Health: Yoga improve blood flow to the skin, and saunas can promote the cleansing of pores. Together, they can contribute to healthier, more radiant skin.
Enhanced Sleep: The relaxation induced by both yoga and saunas can lead to improved sleep quality. This combination can be particularly helpful for those with sleep disturbances.
Emotional Well-being: The mind-body connection fostered by yoga, combined with the stress-reducing effects of saunas, lead to better emotional well-being, reduced anxiety, and enhanced mood.
Community and Social Interaction: Group yoga and sauna sessions will undoubtedly foster a sense of community and social interaction, enhancing overall well-being. Improving not just our connection to ourselves, but to others too.
Holistic Wellness: Combining yoga and saunas addresses both physical and mental aspects of wellness, promoting a more comprehensive sense of well-being.
