This style of yoga targets the connective tissue ( fascia, ligaments, tendons, bones). Mostly made up of passive poses on the mat which are held from 1-5 minutes as you allow gravity to do all the work for you after you find your edge. The longer holds are perfect to meditate and slow your mind down then moving into a seamless shavasana, a final relaxation pose. Some of the benefits of Yin are improved range of motion, calms the mind and body, and reduces stress and anxiety.
**Workout before not after Yin and wait 12 -24 hrs before practicing Yin again.
**It is important to be aware of your own limitations and modify/skip movements or poses as needed during the class.
