Steadying the Winds of Vata (10/1/26)

October 1 2026 • Duration: 49 Minutes

In this class we use the grounding earth elements within the body: the bones, and muscles to settle the winds of vata. Bringing mindfulness into our physical structure, and then allowing ourselves to release tension from a space of peaceful presence. The class has a few longer holds, and asks you to cultivate a feeling of steadiness and comfort or ease in those longer holds. The practice is a reminder to cultivate these same qualities in our daily life to balance the ever increasing vata winds in the Autumn season.

Yoga Sutra 2.46 speaks to these qualities: Sthira sukham āsanam

My interpretation: When practicing Asana - seek a feeling of steadiness and ease in your pose.

Another thought from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali: "...The position of the body must be steady and without strain, in order that the finer currents of life may run their course."

Question for Reflection: Where in my life could I cultivate a little more steadiness and a little more ease?
