Discernment: Stilling the Mind (5/7/26)
Allison MillerMay 7 2026 • Duration: 52 Minutes
In this class we introduce the theme of Discernment and Self-Study. Our practice will bring a slower flow with intentional pauses to look inward, scan the body, and notice. We also work with the shoulders, and a few moves to get the energy flowing.
The meditation is designed to bring calm, peaceful energy back into your body, while releasing any negative imprints.
In the intro we talk about Sutra 1.2:
Sutra 1.2 — “Yogas chitta vritti nirodhah”
"Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind."
You can’t discern truth if the mind is constantly reacting. This class is designed to still the mind, so our natural ability to discern the truth can be heard and/or felt.
Reflection prompt:
What thoughts feel loud vs. what feels quietly true?
