Description

Join me for January four week course of pranayama practice. Classes are 45 minutes. Each month will explore ujjayi breath (victory breath), viloma (interupted breaths), antara and bhaya khumbaka (breath retentions) as instructed by BKS Iyengar in Light on Pranayama ujjayi breathing (the victory breath). Each class will begin with two restorative postures followed by supported savasana with breath work, and, on occasion, a seated practice. Recordings will be available for one week after each class for your practice.

The importance of pranayama lies in learning rhythmic, uniform, slow, and harmonious breathing techniques. By controlling the breath, one can control bodily functions, develop a connection between body, mind, and soul, and improve physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Pranayama is more than just a set of breathing exercises; it affects the nervous system and overall health.
