Pranayama is the cultivation of energy using the breath. We work with breath awareness, and prop arrangements that facilitate breath awareness. Props required - mat, 4 blankets, bolster, chair.

Not for beginners. A regular practice of yoga postures, shoulderstand and headstand is required.

An Iyengar Yoga class for basics and beginners. This level builds strength, stamina and flexibility. Modifications are given for injuries and conditions. Students must have 3 blankets, a mat, 2 blocks, a belt, a bolster and a chair. If you don't have exact props, use something in your home that will approximate these props.

This level class is designed to teach basic actions for standing poses, forward and back bending poses. Headstand and shoulderstand are also taught in this class. This level is for students who are practiced in sirsasana (headstand) with or without the support of a wall, and also Sarvangasana (shoulder stand). The practice builds strength, flexibility, and mental clarity and observation of oneself. Modifications are always made for specific conditions.

When we are physically tired we rest. When we are mentally tired, we move. When our nerves are tired from stress we need to soothe them. This three day workshop will use yoga asanas (postures) to enliven, bring space into the body and mind, for the movement of breath to nourish and calm the nerves.

1 year of yoga experience required. Please have props: a mat, 4-5 blankets, a bolster, blocks and a folding chair, preferably a backless yoga chair as it will be used in every practice.

This class is for those who are new to Iyengar Yoga. Sequences are designed to build strength, balance and range of motion. We will practice standing poses that include lateral, forward and twisting positions that bring strength and length to the spine. We will practice seated postures and supported inverted poses that facilitate healthy breathing and build immune support. Modifications are made for injuries or certain medical conditions.
