Susanna Reynolds
My life’s work has been in Theater, Movement, Manual Healing Arts and Education.
For my own spirit and well being after my children grew up and left home, I took up the study of yoga after practicing in phases of my life since my teen years. Over several years I completed a 500 hour training though Lotus after being a student there for years prior and loving this community. Working with movement, sound, breathing and meditative practices bring me a grounded and joyful Spirit. Singing, walking, hiking, swimming in lakes and ocean, gardening, and writing poetry are my personal renewals.

Emily Parzybok
Emily is a yoga and meditation teacher focused on practices that build awareness and relax the nervous system. Emily teaches both active and restorative styles of yoga; in both practices, she brings an approach focused on listening and attending to the sensations in the body and the thoughts in the mind.
Emily hopes to cultivate, for herself and for her students, an environment where the body is not a site of criticism or improvement, but rather of experience and listening.
Emily has taught yoga for nearly a decade and has had the opportunity to train with many incredible teachers. A student of Sarah and Ty Powers, Emily is working toward her 500-hour training through the Insight Yoga Institute. In the yoga community, Emily has studied with Sarah and Ty Powers, Paul and Suzzee Grilley, Tias Little, and many others. She teaches vinyasa, hatha, restorative, yin and yoga nidra.
Additionally, Emily has studied Buddhist meditation in the United States and Asia, has sat hundreds of days of silent retreat, including month-long intensives, and currently studies with Tempel Smith.

Maia delights in sharing the joyful and empowering practice of yoga with others! Maia loves yoga and believes that at its core it is a tool to explore with curiosity, compassion and a sense of wonder the entirety of our human experience.
As an "anatomy geek" Maia is currently embarked on a year-long mentorship study with her anatomy and biomechanics teacher, Jules Mitchell, exploring the state of scientific research in mindfulness, stretching, movement science, the neurology of movement, facia and healthy aging.
Maia brings this heart-felt blending of mindfulness, loving kindness and an active study of the evidence-based research to her classes: meeting each student where they are. Her classes include a mindful and accessible approach to strength-building and an exploration of our unique embodiment so that students learn how to move in their unique bodies in healthy ways.
Maia found her first class through the University of Washington extension program while she was completing her undergraduate degree. The class was nothing she expected; very gentle and slow and she did not break a sweat at all, but it made her feel good inside and out, and helped with the stresses of the last few quarters at the U. Immediately, the practice helped Maia to feel more at home; not only in her "skin", but also in her mind and emotions, it was revolutionary! Maia has been practicing yoga since her mid 20’s, teaching since her early 30’s and is now approaching 50 feeling ready to explore what healthy aging looks like thanks in large part to the tools gathered from mindfulness and yoga practices. A strong all-levels class that incorporates a vigorous and strengthening athletic element. Movement is moderately paced with poses linked together so that there is a more athletic quality to the practice, but the pace is never rushed, and students are offered variations and encouraged to tune in to their own body for guidance so that the practice can support them in their health and wellbeing.

Stephen Hartnett
Stephen started practicing yoga in 2001 in Seattle under the guidance of his first teacher, Matt Meko. After years of looking for ways to heal from various injuries and health challenges, he found a great deal of relief in the breath practices of pranayama.
Stephen decided to take his yoga practice deeper by studying at Lotus Yoga, there he earned his RYT 200-hour certification in 2017, Stephen is currently completing his 500-hour certification with Lotus. Stephen is registered with the Yoga Alliance.
Stephen offers private and group classes. He teaches at Lotus Yoga in Columbia City and Tukwila Village Senior Center among other venues. His classes happen on the mat, in the chair, online and sometimes in the park! Stephen also teaches Goat Yoga at the Wobbly Ranch in Snohomish when classes are in session.
When he is not teaching yoga, he can be found wandering the neighborhoods of South Seattle with groups of dogs on leash or teaching students French and English!

This is the IN-PERSON option of the hybrid class that offers both in-person and online options for the same class.
Class held at Lakewood Seward Park Community Clubhouse:
4916 S. Angeline Street
Seattle, WA 98118
Preregistration required - space is limited
Sustainable Practice classes focus on how to work with our yoga practice so that it can be sustainable over time. We practice different options of yoga poses, listening to our bodies so that we can practice variations to best suit our unique beings for optimal benefits from our practice over the long-haul.
On an experiential level, the class is taught from the perspective of the importance of the nervous system in healthy movement; class feels gentle while also supporting our stability and our body-mind integration. We start with extended slow and mindful movement and breath to prime our awareness and mindfulness and build skills that we can take forward into the rest of class and into our everyday life. Class also includes accessible stability work and strength-building, restorative postures and, of course, an ending rest (savasana) to integrate our experiences.

Description
Join us for a "Yoga Brunch" with Emily. This all-levels class will begin with a mindful yoga movement practice; sometimes slow flow, sometimes held postures, but always adaptable and accessible. The second half of class will be restorative yoga; longer held postures that help to support regulation and restoration in all your systems. Class ends with a guided meditation and relaxation (savasana). The perfect "yoga brunch"!
All curious movers welcome!

Sheri Cohen
Sheri is an Assistant Trainer in the Feldenkrais Method®, choreographer, dance teacher, and yoga instructor. She has been teaching movement arts to diverse students since 1992.
Sheri's precise alignment instructions support ease and self-awareness while moving: “I prefer to think of the yoga asana as movements, rather than postures, so we experience them as constantly changing landscapes for the journey of our attention, rather than as destinations. This may imply to some that my classes are vinyasa; or flow, style, which is not the case. I do include flow sequences most days, but my classes also include stillness. In stillness, we have the time to develop awareness and tune into subtler sensations and the movements of the breath.”
Sheri also teachers Feldenkrais at Lotus and beyond. Feldenkrais is not yoga, but a unique movement practice and philosophy that is a great complement to yoga, or to practice on its own. The movements in Feldenkrais are small & slow, to help you develop more awareness, fluency, and ease in your movements. This is a great practice for those who have movement challenges while at work or play (including yoga!), and would like to ensure that they are moving wisely and performing optimally. It is also appropriate for anyone who would like to sense themselves more clearly, enjoy more efficient breathing, calm their nerves, and feel more at home in their bodies.
