Jen Franks
Hi, I'm Jen.
For over a decade before I ever stepped to the front of a room to teach yoga, I was a dedicated student. My personal practise naturally gravitated toward stronger, more rigorous disciplines, which perfectly complemented my background in Personal Training and Strength & Conditioning.
I have a deep appreciation for the mechanics of building functional power. But structurally, we need more than just heavy lifting to thrive in modern life; your nervous system needs intentional space to regulate and rest.
That balance is exactly why I built MOKU. I specialise in teaching Hatha, Vinyasa, and the wonderfully dynamic movement of Mandala Vinyasa. Very soon, I will also offer Yin (for when you need to melt over a bolster and tune out the world) and Shake the Dust (a high-energy somatic release).
Whether you need to build bulletproof joints, flow creatively, or literally shake the Friday stress out of your body, I’ve got you covered.
See you on the mat.
Description
Some mornings you want to be taught. Some mornings you just want the room, the quiet, and your own mat to do exactly what your body's asking for. This is that.
A two-hour window at MOKU. Bring a practice of your own, or come with no plan at all and follow one of ours. We keep a few laminated sequences on hand: Hatha and Vinyasa if you want to move, and a slow, supported Yin to sink into if you'd rather rest. Each one is a full practice you can follow at your own pace, without anyone counting you along. Pick one up, follow it, wander off it, whatever suits the morning.
How it works:
Bring your own, or follow ours: Already have a practice? The floor's yours. Never done this without someone guiding you? Take a sequence card and let it lead; no experience, and no plan, required.
There, but not teaching: One of us is always in the room to help if you need it - a prop or a hand finding a sequence, but not to lead or adjust you. Think of it as a friendly presence in the background, not a class.
Move or rest: Flow through a Hatha or Vinyasa sequence, or set yourself up with bolsters and blankets and let the Yin card do the rest. Some mornings ask for one, some for the other.
Come and go: You don't need the full two hours. Arrive when you like and stay as long as you want; just be ready to wrap up as the window closes, so the room can be reset for the day.
Arrive gently: If others are already practising when you come in, settle in quietly and let the room stay as it is. Headphones on if you'd like your own music or a guided practice, so the shared calm holds.
Everything's here: Blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets are all out and ready, build whatever setup you need.
Leave it lovely: When you're done hiding from the week, wipe your mat and put the props back, so the space is ready for the next person.
A slow Sunday morning, entirely on your own terms, from nine until eleven.
