Description

Yoga is a perfect complement to the reverential time of pregnancy, honouring the body and nourishing the mind. The workshop is designed to give you the skills to drop into the body, allowing the mind to quieten, and connect to your growing baby.

During pregnancy, phenomenal changes occur at a rapid rate to nurture the life growing inside our wombs. The modern world has, unfortunately, evolved in a way which isn’t beneficial to our physical form, altering the body’s natural position and causing discomfort. Added to this, everyday mental demands can lead to states of chronic stress and anxiety. The practice of yoga during pregnancy provides an opportunity to open the body and find clarity and calm. The physical aspect of this workshop draws the knowledge of midwifery, and advanced pelvic anatomy into the realm of yoga.

In the workshop you will learn:
1. Simple and safe breathwork techniques for pregnancy
2. Mantra and affirmations for pregnancy
3. how the pelvis and soft tissue structures are perfectly designed to facilitate birth when in alignment
4. carefully chosen postures which bring balance to the soft tissues of the pelvis to facilitate birth
5. which postures to avoid, keeping your baby safe
6. which movements to avoid during everyday life in pregnancy which destabilise the pelvic structures
7. how to ease discomforts of pregnancy

By the end of the workshop you will have learnt a daily yoga practice which can be lengthened or shortened depending on your daily needs. The practice is designed to keep the body soft and aligned, and to ease discomfort often experienced as pregnancy progresses.
Please bring your own Yoga mat if you have one, a blanket, towel and wear loose, comfortable clothing.
