Nichi Green
Description
A slow practice in a warm room (24 degrees) where we move fluidly focusing on breathing, sensation and moving mindfully.( Please read the information below if this is your first warm yoga class) The second half of the class will focus on holding floor-based postures that focus on the hips, shoulders, upper back and hamstrings. Nichi will choose a peak pose each week that we can work towards. Suitable for students with yoga experience. Please contact us first if you have any injuries.
You will sweat gently in this class.
Important Information to know when coming to our Hot Yoga Classes:
Drink plenty of water so that you arrive fully hydrated - aim for 2-3 litres. You will be sweating a lot! It is always better to be hydrated well before class than to drink a lot in the actual class as this can make you feel sick.
Give yourself at least 10 minutes before class starts, know where things are and set out your mat. It's good to have at least 5 minutes in the space to get used to the heat before we start.
Don't practice on a full stomach. Eat at least 2-3 hours before class. Practicing on a full stomach or very empty stomach may make you feel nauseous or faint.
Go easy for your first class. You need to get used to the heat so take breaks when you need to. Try and stay in the room. Sit down if you feel faint or nauseous and focus on your breathing.
It's a good idea to try and attend at least twice a week so that you get used to the heat and help the detoxification process you have started to continue.
What to bring
A yoga mat- we do have mats you can borrow but please clean after use.
Bring a towel. You may want a yoga mat towel.
A large bottle of water.
Wear light clothing that you can move in and your skin can breathe in. Most women opt for shorts and a crop top. Men can just wear shorts. Make sure you have layers for leaving class as you will cool down quickly.
Contraindications for Practising Hot Yoga:
People with certain medical conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes or high blood pressure, or those who are pregnant may need to exercise caution or consult their doctor before participating in hot yoga.
