Teresa Paiva
Te’s yoga journey started over 15 years ago, first with Kundalini and later moving to Hatha and Vinyasa, whilst exploring other movement-based art forms such as Tai-Chi and Capoeira.
She has completed a YTT 200hrs at the Unity Centre in Lewes/Brighton ( Independent Yoga Network) combining a myriad of yoga styles with a strong foundation in meditation, a Trauma-Informed Yoga Training with Yoga Clinic and acquired her Yoga Nidra teacher certification through Satyananda Yoga Centre, both in London.
Te is also an art practitioner, working with the mediums of sculpture, performance and sound in participatory settings as a way of bringing people together, holding space for awareness of the self and others and nurturing creative action.
Through awareness of the mind, spirituality and body’s energy/movement connection with the breath, she aims to facilitate engagement with a holistic approach to living, focused on nurturing peace and loving-kindness to one-self and our local communities and to bring yoga to where it’s most needed, creating an inclusive accessible space for both self-enquiry and togetherness.
Description
Moving into the Autumnal frequency of the new season, we will embark together on a Yoga Nidra journey allowing us to shed unnecessary weight from our body, mind and soul (just like the trees shedding their leaves) in preparation for the quieter months ahead. Te will guide you through a gentle movement practice in connection with the breath, followed by a soothing and releasing Yoga Nidra-guided meditation in Savasana, expanding awareness of the abundance of hues and tones in Nature at this particular time of the year cycle, letting go of what no longer serves us.
Yoga Nidra is a meditative practice modality of restfulness awareness and integration of the Self. It is a transformative practice of deep rest and relaxation, or better put, restful awareness. Yoga Nidra can be the door to heightened states of consciousness: by developing an increased awareness of our inner dimension, our whole creative 'storehouse' deepens. Also known as the 'yogic sleep' ( with references in the ancient scriptures - Mahabharata and later in the Puranas as 'transcendental sleep '), it was put together as a modern modality by Swami Satyananda Saraswati in the 60s.
