The pace of the class is deliberately slow and gentle, allowing you to move with ease and to focus on your breath and body sensations. We stay close to the ground, with none or few standing poses. All poses can be changed and adapted if you, for example, need to stay off your hands or your knees.

By slowing down we get a chance to really feel what is going on and focus on alignment which allows for a safer and more comfortable practice. It helps improve our body awareness which has benefits extending far into our normal life off the yoga mat as well.

The restorative yoga classes focuses on relaxation, rest, and rejuvenation. Unlike other forms of yoga, which may involve dynamic movement and strenuous poses, restorative yoga emphasises slowing down and letting go of tension in the body and mind. We hold the positions for several minutes to maximise restoration.

During a restorative yoga class, we typically use props such as bolsters, blankets, blocks, and straps to support our bodies in comfortable and passive positions. The poses are designed to promote deep relaxation, release muscle tension, and quiet the mind.

I, Ylva, may guide you through breathing exercises and meditation throughout the class to help you deepen your relaxation. The pace of the class is slow and steady, and the emphasis is on being present in the moment and tuning into the body's sensations.

Restorative yoga classes are suitable for all levels of experience, including beginners, as the poses are gentle and accessible. They can be especially helpful for those experiencing stress, anxiety, or physical discomfort, as they offer a space for relaxation and restoration.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a dynamic and physically more challenging style of yoga that emphasises on fluid movement and breath control. In a typical Vinyasa Flow class, we will move through a sequence of movements in a continuous, flowing way, synchronised to the breath.

The word "vinyasa" comes from the Sanskrit term nyasa, meaning "to place," and the prefix vi, meaning "in a special way." Vinyasa Flows then emphasises on the connection between breath and movement, with each inhale or exhale initiating a particular movement or sequence of movements, to place the body in a specific way with each breath.

Each class will be different and the focus can lie on different body parts, such as hips or shoulders, or a particular movement, like circles or backbends. The focus can also be to keep a mindset of fluidity or stability. But in each class we will move through a variety of poses, including sun salutations, standing and balancing poses aiming to get the whole body involved and energised.

Moving faster and having to work a little bit harder with the body can both be really fun and a great way to calm the mind down. Vinyasa yoga can offer a great respite or act as a balancing tonic if we are living a life where there is a lot of focus on thinking and less on physical movement.

This class is designed to help you connect with your body, breath, and mind in a gentle and nurturing way. The class will begin with a brief centering meditation to help you let go of any distractions and fully arrive in the present moment. You will then move through a series of gentle yoga postures, linking your movement with your breath in a flowing sequence.

A special focus will be placed on undoing tension that easily occurs from modern life. Meaning we will work on mobilising the spine, open the chest and improve blood flow to the hips and legs.

Moving in a way that feels good in the body, stretching out commonly tight muscles and preparing us for the meditation part by making sure the body feels as comfortable as possible.

The yoga postures will be accessible and adaptable for all levels. You will be encouraged to move at your own pace and to listen to your body's needs throughout the practice.

After the flow, you will be guided through a seated or lying-down meditation, bring a blanket to sit on or to wrap around you to stay warm and comfortable.

The meditation will focus on cultivating awareness, presence, and relaxation in the body and mind. We will use various techniques to help you deepen your meditation practice, such as breath awareness, visualisation, or body scan.

The class will end with a brief period of reflection, allowing you to notice any shifts or insights that arose during the practice. You will leave feeling more centered, grounded, and connected to yourself and the present moment.

Starting 14th of September

Join this course designed for complete beginners to yoga. We will meet once a week for 6 weeks and practice yoga. Each week we will go through new movements and postures in a pace adapted to you who are taking the class.

The teacher, Ylva, specialises in anatomy, healthy movement and how that affects our bodies. This course is therefore focused on creating an understanding of the how, the executions of different positions and movements, but also the why, the reason we do these poses, when to do which ones and what they can help us with.

This means that after the course has finished you will not just have a better posture, calmer mind and more body awareness, you will also understand what yoga is, how and when to use it to get the most out of it.

You might have planned holidays, as well as life's usual unpredictability which might mean you miss a class or two. For this, recorded online classes can be provided.

Cocooned in the cozy yurt, that can either be warmed with a log burner or have all the sides open to allow for a breeze depending on what type of autumn day we end up having. Nestled into the beautiful Knepp Wildlife estate in the Sussex countryside.
The autumn equinox is a time of balance, as the day and the night are of equal length, before the darkness slowly takes over.

We will spend the day moving, breathing and getting back into our bodies. Summer is generally a very outward and social time, as Autumn begins we need to start looking inward and focusing more on nourishing ourselves.

As the sun's presence wanes, and its strength diminishes we can no longer rely on this external force for our main source of energy. So our retreat day together will focus on nurturing ourselves from within, harnessing the power of movement and mindset to make sure we are living in a sustainable way, to not drain our vitality and well-being.

It will be a day of self-care, nourishing movement, mindful breathing, self-massages, deep relaxation. We will lean into shifting gear and connect to the seasons to avoid burnout.


Living out of alignment with the world around us and thinking that we should live every day throughout the year exactly the same to ensure consistency and productivity would mean disregarding the natural cycles and opportunities for growth, transformation, and renewal that the changing seasons, like the autumn equinox, offer us.
