Description
The Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga is called “Yoga Chikitsa”, which literally means yoga therapy. This series greatly fosters our body’s natural (and healthy) alignment and helps to strengthen and mobilize the body. A frequent yoga practice that aligns with the philosophical background of yoga (Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra) allows the practice to become a movement meditation which is calming to the mind.
This one day workshop starts with a philosophical introduction into ashtanga which helps us to better understand spiritual aspects of the practice. This is then followed by an introduction to the traditional ashtanga yoga pranayama. Soon we will prepare for our practice with a “warm up circle”. The ashtanga practice will be adapted to each participant’s unique needs, as we will practice according to the Ashtanga Yoga Innovation Method by Dr. Ronald Steiner. Thus, this workshop is suitable for all who are interested in this yoga tradition, also those who until now have been to shy to try it out.
We will finish this workshop integrating all with yoga philosophy.
