Description
In these Saturday sessions we explore different aspects of the ashtanga practice.
These workshops are for all levels of ashtanga practitioners who wish to nurture and source their practice.
In each Saturday session we explore different aspects of the ashtanga practice in a two-fold way:
1. Asana Practice
First we explore different aspects of the asana practice, to really explore and experience what proper grounding, bandha, drishti, breath awareness does with us and our inner orientation.
This offers you a valuable opportunity to experience an ashtanga led class that covers most of the poses of the primary series. You will learn to deepen your practice through emphasis on different aspects of subtle foundation in each pose. You will experience a calming, meditative practice, after which you will feel empowered and rejuvenated.
To join this workshop you do not need to be already practicing all the postures of the primary series. This workshop is designed for you to do as you are able to. Different levels practitioners can join this workshop.
Each Saturday session has a different emphasis on subtle inner awareness. From these sessions you will take a lot of tools for your regular practice onboard and thus gain a wider toolbox to source your practice experience.
2. Yoga Philosophy
Second we will discuss and demystify yoga philosophy in an easily accessible manner.
What is yoga? Why do we do what we do? What is effort and no effort? What are the obstacles to practice, and how does the practice help the 'workings of our mind'? What are the eight limbs and how do their pertain to life?
In our yoga philosophy sessions we will draw mainly from the Yoga Sutras written by Patanjali. The Yoga Sutras is a fundamental text for Yoga comprised of 196 aphorisms on how to live a more meaningful and thoughtful life. The Yoga Sutras are divided into four chapters, each chapter comes with it's own purpose, and the text is something you can sink into and deeply contemplate, learn from and apply in your life. Study of the yoga sutras helps to discover the deeper aspects of your yoga practice. The simple yet powerful aphorisms constitute a solid groundwork for the progression of your yoga practice. and definitely worthwhile to study at least for one lifetime, at least!! :))
