Description

Restorative / Yin Yoga targets the interior, supportive structures, the fasciae, literally down to the bone marrow. In contemporary society, restorative / yin yoga is a soothing elixir to help us restore balance in our stress-filled, over-scheduled lives. Once, we allow the body to come to true rest in therapeutic yoga poses, regeneration and restorative processes are stimulated (all processes mediated by the parasympathetic nervous system). In our daily going-abouts, these regeneration processes (parasympathetic nervous system) are easily overridden / blocked by the little stresses we encounter (positive or negative stress), however, such regenerative processes are vital for our health, physically, mentally and emotionally. Restorative yoga is a therapeutic style that uses props to support the body, encouraging deep relaxation and embodied awareness. Using passive yoga asanas and exploring different breathing techniques to calm body and mind, we allow our nervous systems to ease and enjoy the benefit of true rest. We will concentrate on surrendering our weight to support and softening into the stretches. This helps us to relieve the effects of negative stress encountered in daily life, and can be highly beneficial in times of fatigue, illness, and emotional strain. Our focus will be to calm and nurture ourselves on all levels during the workshop. The conscious relaxation techniques taught can be used outside of the yoga room as well, encouraging us to take our practice off the mat and into the world. These sessions are for all levels including pregnancy and most injuries. Contribution: €27 (students €25) Your space is secured once your contribution has been received.
