Yoga Nidra/Kirtan at First Plymouth Church

Lisa Theis
Lisa’s journey with the practice of yoga began in 2000 in a Bikram studio in San Francisco.
What began as a physical and mental challenge to just stay in the room for the duration of
class quickly became a deep and healing connection for her body, mind, and spirit, and
eventually became a life’s passion and calling.
Though she has had many influential teachers, she is a dedicated student and follows the
lineage of Para Yoga and Sri Vidya. Her classes strive to provide a space for each person to
explore the effect of yoga in their own way and, while rooted in the methodologies of Para Yoga,
are an amalgamation of all her teachers’ influences. Each class will include pranayama
(breathwork), the exploration and experience of the energetics of asana (postures), mantra,
visualization and intentional focus, and meditation.
Description
Guided by Marian Camden
Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, is the practice of deepening relaxation for the body and guiding the mind into the Delta wave state. Delta waves are known for being the most restoring and relaxing, as they are the waves our brains produce when in deep sleep. Consider brining a blanket and pillows to support your body as you lay on your back.
Kirtan is devotional singing & chanting. This practice of Bhakti yoga is said to be one of the most effective ways to reach the state of bliss and unity with the Divine. Done in call and response style, the repetitions of these sacred sounds will lift your vibration and leave you buzzing love and devotion!
This is a Pay What you Can class and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Suggested rate of $20 goes to pay for the space & instructors & a portion of the proceeds will go to the Share-the-Plate non-profit of the month. You may donate in person when you show up for class, or you can donate online after the class is over - an email will be sent with details once class is complete.
