Iyengar yoga is a steady, practical style of yoga that focuses on clear alignment and mindful effort.
In an Iyengar class we move more slowly than in a flow class, spending time setting up each posture with care. You might use props like blocks, belts, bolsters, or the wall, not to make things “easier,” but to help your body find the shape safely and feel what’s happening.
Expect precise guidance from the teacher, longer holds, and lots of attention to the basics: feet, legs, spine, breath, and balance. It’s a brilliant practice if you want to build strength and stability, improve posture, work with injuries thoughtfully, or simply learn yoga in a more detailed, supportive way.
