HATHA SOMA / At Yoga in the Stars
Cancelled
August 13, 2026 •
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Heathcote & Star, 344 Grove Green Road
Description
A movement exploration session where we drop into somatic principles, try new things and then integrate our experience with a fluid movement hatha based yoga practice.
These sessions are to help remind us that the asanas (yogic postures) is just part of yoga, and what yoga is may be something far broader, reflecting on this question through movement is a way to come into contact with the deeper enquiry that sits behind yoga itself.
What to expect at a Hatha Soma session?
We use somatic enquiry - focused on the felt sense, relational enquiry - how we move in relation to others, and we use postural enquiry - how we hold ourselves through the postural memory which relates heavily to our lived experience. And we use asana, the yoga postures, to break free of those somatic, and postural and even relational patterns that frequently hold us back from experiencing the fullness of life.
This session is free, or pay as you wish, or you can go for non-monetary exchange and bring a smile or a candle.
Yoga is for everyone and this is an open session for all levels. There will be time after the session for chai and chats!...

YOGA / COMMUNITY / MOVEMENT / DISCOVERY
Yoga in the Stars is a project by The Metahealth Movement, a not-for-profit working towards elevated health.
In 2022 £9,943 was donated to Yoga in the Stars by The National Lottery Community Fund for a special new project The Yoga-Social!
The project has been to create a space for people to come together around health and well-being. A free space to practice yoga, breathwork, movement, dance, tai chi and talk about health, food and lifestyle. Use the studio equipment and space in an open, inclusive and fun way. Expect spontaneous workshops and sessions, as well as a dedicated self-practice space, and we hope to invite other local yoga teachers to host sessions and workshops throughout the year to help grow and enrich the community.
Reach out to us with ideas.
Yoga really is for everyone, it’s a personal thing, and is a lifestyle choice that goes way beyond the mat and into every aspect of life, and we hope that this grant helps you to explore what this can mean for you as we discover together.
#NationalLottery and the National Lottery players, thank you!
