The Moon Sequence is an alternative therapeutic vinyasa sequence designed by Matthew Sweeney (author of Ashtanga Yoga As It Is and Vinyasa Krama). The Moon Sequence can serve as preparation for, or as an alternative to, the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series and was designed with Ashtanga Yoga practitioners in mind but it is accessible to students of all traditions. By practicing an alternative sequence regularly, you can decrease the likelihood of strain and overuse injury and you can also learn to tune into how the seasons and the phase of the moon affect and influence your body and mind. In the Wednesday classes we cover parts of the Moon Sequence (full moon sequence will take 2-2.30 hours). Maxi is currently one of only 2 teachers in the Netherlands with authorization to teach Matthew Sweeney’s Chandra Krama (Moon Sequence).

In this guided Ashtanga Class you will be led through the fundamental poses of the practice with special attention to the basic principles of this practice. A great class for beginning students or for students who want to revisit the foundations of this practice.

David is one of Maxi's teachers, his teaching is really a great inspiration. We asked David whether it was ok to practice with his primary series video in self-practice and he was very enthusiastic about it (yay!).
To join David's counted lef class (in your self-practice) be ready to chant at 7.00 (that's when we start the video) - a great self practice to review the count and how to get in and out each pose while moving together. David's full primary takes 90min, you can practice until where you practice in your Mysore class and then either go to backbends or observe (and then join back at backbends). Finish your practice by 8.45 on Friday as the next class is starting soon thereafter.

In this class you will be led through all foundational poses of the ashtanga system, from then the class continues in the traditional Mysore style. A wonderful class for all, for more beginning practitioners to ease into the Mysore style and for more experienced practitioners to review the count in the foundational poses and receive verbal anchors.
Of course a teacher will help you throughout class.
